This video essay dives into the screen to explore different stories of lived experiences through video games. Told as a voice-over narrative and framed by a group video call, four friends share their reflections on concepts such as death and game over, facing fears in virtual environments, and their relationships with avatars and other characters. These conversations reveal the depth and significance that digital experiences can take on.

The piece is edited with extensive video game archive material, gameplay footage, artificial intelligence, and brief “real” interviews that bring us closer to these spaces from a more poetic and human perspective than what is usually shown. The title refers to the concept of respawn—death followed by the immediate reappearance of the player to continue the game—which introduces a logic of constant reincarnation and second chances.
